The Epidemic

It spread quickly, the epidemic, preying on the young and old but eventually that wasn't enough and it spread further. At first people became sick then they became sicker and sicker until they died, but they didn't die. Hearts stopped beating, blood stopped flowing but people lived and decayed while living. There was no cure. The year is 2016 and the world is living dead.

Tutorial: Bird (Halloween)

Halloween has arrived!!!

To start of my FIRST Halloween series I thought I’d begin with a Bird makeup look. This particular bird was inspired by Klairedelysart, a makeup artist and YouTuber; I thought her version of bird makeup was really unique and pretty. Although where she used more traditional bird colours of brown, white and black, I decided for Halloween I'd make mine a bit crazy and bright so i chose purple and gold as a colour scheme.

To start I did something a bit different, I drew a face chart of the makeup.

My Skin: Moisturiser

Moisturisers increase skin's hydration by reducing evaporation, they are designed to make the outer layers of skin softer and more supple. For normal skin, moisturisers are used to prevent skin becoming too dry or oily. For dry skin, moisturisers are most likely to be oil-based and be a lot thicker in consistency, these moisturisers are also recommended for people with eczema. For oily skin moisturisers are still needed however they will be oil-free, so water-based. Those with sensitive skin will want to use a moisturiser without fragrances or dyes that could be irritating also ones that contain soothing ingredients such as chamomile or aloe.

My Skin: Toners and Treatments

Toners and Treatments. Toners are a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and lessen the appearance of pores, also toners help to bring the skin's pH back to normal (pH 5.5) as many cleansers can alter it making the skin slightly more alkaline. #science!

There are three types of toners:
Skin braces or fresheners, which are the mildest types that contain water, a humectant (which is a substance used to keep things moist) and little if any alcohol (0-10%). Skin fresheners are the gentlest to the skin and are most suitable for dry, dehydrated, sensitive or normal skins. A popular example is rose water.

My Skin: Cleansers

Cleansers! Cleansers is (as defined by Wikipedia) "a facial care product that is used to remove makeup, dead skin cells, oil, dirt and other types of pollutants from the skin if the face." Lovely! As you've probably guessed today I'll be talking about cleansers (I've said cleansers too many times now - sounds weird). Now if you haven't read my previous post I suggest you do that before hand (I'll link it here). Alright let's get started!

My Skin: The Background

love skincare. I love finding new products, testing them out and seeing if they do the job. Despite all this I am a complete novice when it comes to what does what, the order and do I really need it. After days upon days of scrolling through Caroline Hirons' blog and countless other skin care posts, I think I understand what's what and so I decided "let's do some posts on my skincare". Then I turned around and realised I have little to none skincare products that I actually use consistently. However now I've done some more shopping I think I've got my kit sorted (minus a toner but I'll come to that later). So this is my skin!

Tutorial: Summer Makeup

Summer is now in full swing, although the English weather could persuade you to think otherwise, seriously where is that beautiful sunshine we had? With summer there is the usual abundance of bright colours and dewy-skin, not being a fan of the dewy skin I thought I would jump on the bright lip bandwagon, so I picked up a lipstick from Sleek (I think they've become my new favourite brand, whoops!).

Review: New Makeup

I've been shopping!

There I said it. Phew! Ok on to the post, today I have five products to show you, some have been out for a while but are new to me and a couple are new to the market and I just need to tell you how amazing they are. Alright let's get started!

First of all I've got a lip liner from Sleek. Sleek is a brand known for amazing pigmentation and high quality while being reasonably cheap, this lip liner didn't disappoint. The texture is creamy and it applies very smoothly and gives an opaque colour first time. The only drawback I have found with the lip liner is that it can become patchy if you have dry lips like mine, and with all lip liners it does dry out your lips so I would suggest wearing a lip balm or clear gloss over the top.
